I Feel Like

2:00 is my NEMESIS!

Somehow every time I look down at my clock it's always 2:00. The day flies by until that dreaded hour and then it remains 2:00 for hours! I am serious, for hours, maybe even days, it's not a figment of my imagination. AND in which case, 2:00 is stifling my imagination!

But then I hear this song on my Pandora Glee Cast Radio Station and I feel pretty good about 2:00.

I Promise I'll Floss...Just Please NOOOoooo!!!

WARNING: The following post might be TMI...
I take great pride in my oral hygiene; feeling as though my smile is one of my best features, I would. But I am here to admit it:
My name is April Millar and I need a ROOT CANAL!!
gasp!
I will go through with it, just so I don't look like this lady in a few years:
(I mean I may still look like this when I am old with the bad lipstick and poofy hair, but at least when I pull down my lip [which everyone does often so this is legitimate], you will see all of my teeth instead of a gaping hole)

A year and a half ago my tooth chipped so I had a hole in my tooth. Even though I would floss food would always get stuck back there. Can you see it...?
I finally went to the dentist last week for the first time in three years! (I know Liz, be disgusted, it really is gross) And besides the little root canal I need to have, I had no cavities!! Yay for me!

In one week I will look like this guy:
(only prettier because I have long hair and I pluck my eyebrows)
Here for your viewing pleasure I am posting the grossest pictures I can find from a root canal:

Going along with the post theme of TMI, it's not fun to have the stomach flu the same time as your husband and only one bathroom, because then you both end up throwing up in the same toilet and there is disgusting stuff (that will make you throw up more) everywhere.
Merry Christmas

SOLD!!! :(

That's right, my dear sweet TWANDA is GONE!!! If you have known me at all in the past 8 years, you have known my best buddy, Twanda. That's right, we have been together for 8 years!!
She has been with my family her entire life. In fact my bother-in-law won her in a work drawing!

I am sorry to say goodbye, dear sweet friend. After 220,000+ miles and a lot of great memories I bid you adue
.

But that's not all!!!
Trevor's GMC K5 Jimmy no longer belongs to us.
What were we thinking selling two cars in one week?

Their undrivable conditions probably did us in:
-Sever overheating (Twanda)
-Dropped Transmition (Jimmy)
- warped, blown, destroyed head gaskets (Twanda)
-A whole lot of mumbo jumbo technical terms I don't have the slightest idea what it means but the exact definition is: $$$
(Jimmy & Twanda)
Dear Santa,
I would like a reliable car for Christmas.
I have done my fare share of sitting on the side of the road.
That's not too much to ask, is it?
Frustrated and Stranded,
April

Home

So I feel the need to write a disclaimer: It is not up to my decorating par yet so please don't judge too harshly. I still need to paint, put in shelving and hang things on the walls. But in the meantime here is our first little home:
The Kitchen

Don't you love that the cabinet won't close and the drawer under the stove is crooked? It gives the old place character I think. It's like in my very first car, whenever I would turn my left blinker on it would make the radio pulsate. It's just endearing, right?

The Living Room

It's tiny but it's perfect.

The Bedroom

Not a great angle, but it's what i have. The best thing about the bedroom is the closet, for how small the house is, somehow the closet is huge!! I even let Trevor put his clothes in it and everything still fits!
We have been loving ksl.com If we didn't get our furniture from Trev's sister, Angie, or my parents, we got it off ksl.com and we have gotten some awesome deals!!
Don't you love my quilt? My mom made it for my wedding present! She is awesome!

The SECOND Bedroom
View one: The Lounge Area

View Two: The Study Area
It's great because we can use the extra closet for our food storage!! (and my winter coats of course)

The Bathroom / Laundry Room

I thought it would frustrating having the washer and dryer in the bathroom, but I have found I just love having a washer and dryer, period(.) Besides It makes it easy to fold while attending to other business....

Well there you have it, I hope you have enjoyed the tour. Consider these pictures the before pictures and when I get everything the way I have invisioned I will post accordingly.

Expensive!

Slowly but surely I am decorating and getting my house in order (pictures to come...one day). It's been fun especially trying to get everything to work together on a major budget! So far my major block has been in Rugs! I may have taken them for granted my whole life but for the most part I can't believe how expensive they are!!!

Not only is it super hard to get one that I like, that works with everything else, and is the perfect size... then they tend to be a pricy penny. I am feeling a little overwhelmed.

Does anyone know where I can find some great rugs for a great price?

25 Things about ME!

So I was Facebook stalking someone awhile ago, you know, trying to get to know them better without them knowing that I am getting to know them. (I maintain it's their own fault for posting what they post.)

Anyway they had a note about 25 things about them, I remembered I had participated in that activity awhile ago and I thought I would repost for my blogging friends.
(I know, and I still maintain it is my own fault for posting all this info about myself, but I think it would kind of cool if I had a real life stalker, I would be like all the celebrities)
1. I LOVE to travel! It is my goal to travel outside the country at least once every year, unless I am living internationally in which case that would just be awesome.
2. Every time I walk into a museum I get so excited that I start stumbling over my words not making coherent sentences. I start blurting out works like "Chiaroscuro, look, movement, here , stunning, controposto, symbolic, gorgeous, etc. But once I can calm down I actually give a pretty good tour.
3. Ok, see if you can follow this: I have 3 older sisters, TWO of my sisters married guys named Jeff. My other sister married a guy named Bryce. My husbands name is Trevor BRYCE. My name is Donna April, Trevor's late grandmother's name is Donna, and his grandfather's name is Bryce who he was named after. So he has grandparents named Bryce and Donna, which are the names that Trev and I have but don't use.
4. I am the WORST storyteller, but I LOVE telling stories. I give way too much detail and I usually get distracted half way through. I have been teased about my story telling abilities all my life; I usually have to say "I found 5 bucks" at the end to make it a decent story.
5. It is not a secret that I love to eat, apparently the fact that I have eaten 19 zebra cakes at one time is not a secret either...
6. I own more costumes then actual clothes, and I am constantly trying to think of themed / dress-up parties.
7. I am constantly cold (which facilitates my detest for the winter months). I told Trevor one time that I think the reason why I am always freezing is because I have problems with my thyroid, now he talks about getting me a thyroid transplant.
8. I am the only left-handed person in my family, which means I learned to do many things with my right hand. My mom didn't really know I was left handed until I was about 15 and for my high school graduation she gave me left handed scissors, very thoughtful if I was in Kindergarten.
9. I only like to cook when there is someone in the kitchen to keep me company.
10. My car's name is Twanda
11. I got pulled over once for a DUI....although I was not drunk.
12. The only car accident I have been in with air bags was when we ran into a construction dumpster. No, we weren't drunk then either.
13. I truly believe every girl needs: a red coat, red shoes, and a red purse
14. My favorite picture book growing up was Miss Rumphius and my favorite book in 4th grade was Maniac Magee
15. I hate the taste of cilantro
16. I recieved my Patriarchal Blessing on September 11, 2001
17. I have dimples and my first grade teacher told me they were angel kisses. To prove her theory I tried asking my mom, she said it was a weak muscle. I was devastated.
18. I have the best friends in the world!
19. One of my favorite things about Trevor are his large lips.
20. I like my smile. (Thank goodness for braces!)
21. My grandparents were related.... distantly. My grandma came through Hyrum Smith's first wife, Jerusha, and my grandpa came through Hyrum Smith's second wife Mary Fielding. The bright side is that my grandma didn't have to change her last name when she got married.
22. I had a funeral for my first car Goldburg, who was named after the WCW wrestler.
23. I have gone through many phases in my life some of them have included: wrestling (see #22), monster trucks, rat-tails (hair), Queen (the band), flowers in the hair, skinny dipping, and many MANY other phases.
24. My most embarrassing moment includes me yelling "BOONDOGGLE" and ripping my friend's insulin pump out of his stomach.
25. I was born on 4/20, which is the same day as Hitler's birthday, the Colombine anniversary, and national "get high" day... what a great day, right?

Ode To AT&T

You were brilliant to obtain a monopoly on IPhone
Otherwise no one would want you through disdain
Everytime I look at my bill I moan
Believe me, I do have reason to complain
But now I have lost my phone and I don't even care

I have called your customer service at least 3 times
With no luck, frustrations, and even tears
Just let me out, be done, it's only fair
I am through with you taking all my dimes
But alas Trevor loves you so in all my fears

It's you I will deal with forever, I groan
I hope you are happy with me insain
Because next time I call and hear you drone
No more Mrs. Nice Girl, bring on the rain!
Oh, I just got a call saying they found my phone
I guess we can be friends now

Hook Brings Me Back

Don't you love when you are driving a long and a song comes on the radio, one you haven't heard in forever, and with it comes a flood of memories? You know, all the sudden you are back in your Junior year driving the carpool to school in your dad's truck that has a zero turning radius but you are jamming out thinking life couldn't get any better.
That happened to me today, a song came on the radio one that, given the station, is fairly common but it happened to be right at my favorite part in the song, I couldn't help it I just started grinning.
Do you remember "Hook" by Blues Traveler? It first debuted in 1994, which granted I was 8 years old at that point, but I had super cool older sisters so I was well up on my music game. If you know that song, you know which part I am talking about:

(The Best part starts right about 3:00 min)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pdz5kCaCRFM&ob=av2e

I know every word to this part... well I may have gotten a few words wrong, and when I say a few words I mean I may have made up vitrually the entire song in my own rendintion. In fact I didn't even know it was called "hook" I though it was "the heart brings you back"
In case you want to check how close your lyrics are to the real lyrics:

Suck it in suck it in suck it in
If you're Rin Tin Tin or Anne Boleyn
Make a desperate move or else you'll Win
And then begin to see
What you're doing to me this MTV is not for free
It's so PC it's killing me
So desperately I sing to thee of love
Sure but also rage and hate and pain and fear of self
And I can't keep these feelings on the shelf
I trid, well no in fact I lied
Could be financial suicide but I've got too much pride inside
To hide or slide
I'll do as I'll decide and let it ride until I've died
And only then shall I abide this tide
Of catchy little tunes
Of hip three minute ditties
I wanna bust all your balloons
I wanna burn all of your cities to the ground
I've found I will not mess around
Unless I play then hey
I will go on all day hear what I say
I have a prayer to pray
That's really all this was
And when I'm feeling stuck and need a buck
I don't rely on luck because
The hook brings you back
I ain't tellin' you no lie
The hook
on that you can rely
I found out some really interesting stuff on the song (this came right off wikipedia):
The song's title refers to a hook in music terminology: the catchy element or phrase of a song which makes it distinctive and memorable. The song's lyrivs assert that whatever the singer sings about if effectively meaningless, since the song's musical hook will keep listeners coming back, even if they are unaware of teh reason. In the introduction he sings "It doesn't matter what I say/ So long as I sing with inflection /That makes you feel that I'll convey/ Some inner truth of vast relection."
The song's own hook is the familiar harmonic structure of Pachelbel's Cannon in D.
I love song memories!

Best Calling Ever

Yesterday was the first day of my new calling. And as a fact it happens to be the best calling there is, I know, I voted. Now you are curious, what could be better than your calling? Well I will tell you, in fact Jesus will tell you, because......

There is nothing better than those little 3-year-olds. I don't think I stopped laughing the whole time. I actually need to come up with a more discreet way of laughing rather then putting the paper in front of my face. I am lucky enough to be a sun-beam teacher but the fact that I get my mom to be my co-teacher is the jack-pot!

To illistrate I want to tell the following story:

It was my turn to give the lesson which was: "I Can be Kind to Animals" (Trevor thinks it was divine intervention I gave this lesson because I really don't like animals, but that's besides the point). There was an activity in the lesson that we "fish" for animals: I made a fishing pole with a stick, string, and a magnent taped to the end so when they "fished" the paper clip that was attached to the picture of the animal would connect to the magnent and they could pick up each animal.
During primary I had the "fishing pole" propped up against the wall and a little boy names Dane started to play with the magnent. He asked me what it was, I told him it was a surprise and that he would have to wait for class-time. He proceeded to guess, "Is it a Rock?" "No" "Is it a button?" "No" "Is it a diamond?" "No, it's a surprise. Please put it down and you will find out what it is when we go to class."

He then proceeds to play with it, when he let go there happened to be a metal ciruit breaker
box right by his chair, (why anyone would put anything low enough for a 3-year-old to get to, especially in the primary room is beyond me) well, it got close enough to have the reaction magnents are famous for....
with a little snap the magnent attached to the metal and did not pull away. Dane watched all of this and stared at the magnent for a minute before looking up at me with huge wide eyes and a big grin
"IT'S CHOCOLATE!!"

What?!?

And that, my dear friends, is only part of what I have to look forward to every Sunday!

Jealous?? You should be.

The List

I have always been a huge list maker.
I like to see everything in front of me all at once. It also helps because I am really good at getting distracted and forgetting things so lists help me to remember my really good ideas.
If you will notice... on the left hand side of my blog I have added a new list, called "The List." By reading it you should be able to figure out what kind of list it is.... others like to call it a Bucket List or Things to do Before I Die etc., etc. I have made a ton of these lists over the years. They are in the back of journals, on sticky notes, inside my jewelry box, on my phone, seriously they are everywhere.

I really like this list because it reminds me of things I have to do...in life. I decided it would be a good idea to post "The List" because that way not only am I sharing all my really good ideas with everyone BUT it is now out there and I have to be held accountable for actually accomplishing and completing said list!

The list is not in any particular order of priority in fact I will probably add to it because I am always coming up with really good ideas....
Let me know if I am missing anything really great on "The List"

Two Birthday's and an Anniversary

A first year anniversary to boot!!

(in reverse order)
JUNE 6:

Trevor gave me beautiful flowers for the first time ever, so naturally I needed to document the moment.

What a wonderful man I have.

We decided to go on a little vaca for our anniversary. Off we whisked away to St. George. After a wonderful session at the St. George Temple we were fortunate enough to spend some quality time at the local service station as Twanda demanded it necessary....

But then we got to go to the fabulous Tuachan Amphitheater and see a childhood favorite of mine, CATS!
I loved it, Trevor was a great sport although I think he would have rather seen Tarzan.

MAY 8, 2010:
My baby turns 26!!!!!!!!
We packed the day with:
A marvelous picnic at Wheeler Farm with all the animals
Iron Man 2 - a "guy" movie
Texas Roadhouse with BJ, Stacy, Troy, and Jemaica.
It was a good day.
(I wish I had more pictures)

April 20:
24 years for me!
(It's really weird because when I think of myself I think I am 21, in fact the other day I was talking to my mom and I said, "yeah, they are a few years older then me." But when I stopped and thought about it, "they" were my exact same age.)

These are all the clothes, and SHOES, Trevor picked out all by himself for my birthday!
I am so proud, he did a great job....love him.

Trevor surprised me with a Bee's Baseball game, we were really lucky it was such a nice day, we had a blast!!

Generation Y??

You know, the technology driven generation.
Apparently I must be somewhere between the X and Y generation because I tried to figure out how to change my blog so I could post the big pictures, and all I did was make it so my blog list ended up at the bottom of the page. I got frustrated and that's why I stopped posting...... that was a few months ago.... I don't know how to fix it.

Deffinitely BLOG WORTHY

Those of you who have known Trevor in his post-mission years, have been well aware of his necklace.

Now I have always harbored a stereotype for guys that wear necklaces, granted it depends on the kind of necklace.... a man who wears a puka shell necklace is different then the man who wears a gold chain. Nevertheless if the necklace is there....the damage is done.

For as long as I have known Trevor he has worn:
Now I often asked Trev when he was going to give up "the dream" and put away the necklace, but since he acquired the necklace on his mission he has been pretty attached....for nostalgic purposes of course.

Well I would like the world to know, HE HAS DONE IT! The Necklace can now only be found in the drawer full of other things he no longer needs.
And I couldn't be more PROUD!
Aren't I the Luckiest lady in the world to have such a grown-up man?
