Before / After : Bedroom

I am finally ready to show some before and after pictures of my bedroom.

Before:
Oh man I took this picture when we had first moved in, everything was everywhere.
It was totally intentional to have an unmade bed.... more drastic transformation.

Ok if it's bothering you that much, here is a before with a made bed:

After

I would like to interject here for a second.
Yes I realize there is a massive blank wall above our bed screaming to be made super cute. However, in the next couple months we will be upgrading our bed to a king.
Yup, I said King.
I am so stinking excited.
What's that?
Yes of course I cuddle with my husband all. night. long.
I just want to have the option to not touch another human if I don't want.
p.s. Trevor and I are both spread eagle sleepers.
So with a king will come a different headboard; Trev wants a fabric one, I want wrought iron...we'll see.

Before

After
Yes, my room may be having a
silver / grey
gold / brown
identity crisis. It just happened.
Also, yes, that is a vision board.

Before

After
Do you love my pictures?

I have this great photo of Trevor and I dancing from our wedding.
It reminded me of other dancing pieces specifically these ones by Renoir and Vettriano.

I have zero photoshop experience but I wanted our photograph to look more like a painting. So I watched a few tutorials, played around, and this is what I came up with:

Original

And after I tampered with it

I know it could probably be done much better but I will take it.
Photoshop is hard.

Before / Almost After

Decorating takes me awhile.
So I decided I will just start posting pictures as I get things done otherwise it would be years before I finish everything.

I am not even done with my living room yet but I thought I would post about my wall.

I have this big blank wall, full of potential. However, the thermostat placement is super convenient. I love that it makes it so I can't center anything above my couch.

So what should I do?

A collage of course!
It still isn't quite done, now that I know what pictures I have in each frame I'll probably spray paint them so everything is a bit more uniform.

ps You've got to love our couches. Inherited from my parents they are older than me!

Home

So I feel the need to write a disclaimer: It is not up to my decorating par yet so please don't judge too harshly. I still need to paint, put in shelving and hang things on the walls. But in the meantime here is our first little home:
The Kitchen

Don't you love that the cabinet won't close and the drawer under the stove is crooked? It gives the old place character I think. It's like in my very first car, whenever I would turn my left blinker on it would make the radio pulsate. It's just endearing, right?

The Living Room

It's tiny but it's perfect.

The Bedroom

Not a great angle, but it's what i have. The best thing about the bedroom is the closet, for how small the house is, somehow the closet is huge!! I even let Trevor put his clothes in it and everything still fits!
We have been loving ksl.com If we didn't get our furniture from Trev's sister, Angie, or my parents, we got it off ksl.com and we have gotten some awesome deals!!
Don't you love my quilt? My mom made it for my wedding present! She is awesome!

The SECOND Bedroom
View one: The Lounge Area

View Two: The Study Area
It's great because we can use the extra closet for our food storage!! (and my winter coats of course)

The Bathroom / Laundry Room

I thought it would frustrating having the washer and dryer in the bathroom, but I have found I just love having a washer and dryer, period(.) Besides It makes it easy to fold while attending to other business....

Well there you have it, I hope you have enjoyed the tour. Consider these pictures the before pictures and when I get everything the way I have invisioned I will post accordingly.

Expensive!

Slowly but surely I am decorating and getting my house in order (pictures to come...one day). It's been fun especially trying to get everything to work together on a major budget! So far my major block has been in Rugs! I may have taken them for granted my whole life but for the most part I can't believe how expensive they are!!!

Not only is it super hard to get one that I like, that works with everything else, and is the perfect size... then they tend to be a pricy penny. I am feeling a little overwhelmed.

Does anyone know where I can find some great rugs for a great price?

Tradition Stealer

It's mine and Trevor's very first Christmas together, so we have had many discussions on what kind of traditions we want to have in our home. My sister Aleena and her husband Geoff have started the tradition that every time they have a new baby they make their Christmas Stocking. Well since Trev and I are the new additions to our family we decided to make our stockings as well. We went to the fabric store and picked out exactly what we want our stocking to be and came home to tackle the sewing machine.

Ruthie helped us draw up a pattern, Trev measured, I cut them out...

And we both sewed! Trev was a little nervous, but he did an excellent job!

Aren't you so proud of his very own stocking he made by himself!? His favorite part is the fur, can you tell?
