Walking on Sunshine

It was around Bridget's birthday (September) Trevor and I were talking about how she wasn't walking yet and if we should be concerned.

Trev: She's getting close, I bet she'll be walking by Halloween.
Ape: I don't know, she's not even wanting to walk holding our hands, I bet it will be closer to Thanksgiving.

Naturally we are a betting family, so the stakes were set. We decided on the day exactly in between Halloween and Thanksgiving, November 12th. If Bridget walked before that day Trevor won, and any day after, I won.
(Walking meaning it was her primary mode of transport).
Whomever lost had to plan a romantic date for the other.

Bridget started walking...November 13th!
Sorry Trevor, you always sometimes lose.

She is such a cute walker:

And if you are curious, the romantic date Trevor planned:
James Bond movie and the shooting range.
 Sometimes Trevor, you win.

The 4th Annual Love Trip

Let me explain.

Trevor has some of the best friends. They are his "college buddies." All were roommates of his in college, some from Freshman year, but a few originated in high school, middle school, and even elementary. One has been his best friend since birth (that happens sometimes when you are cousins).

They were such a good group of guys. I knew the majority of them in college, I would see them around campus or at parties and they would be having so much fun.
I wanted to be best friends with them. They were the guys that planned the best dates, participated in any activity and made it so fun.
They were all really cute and funny.
And they were good guys, they followed the honor code and curfew, they did their home teaching and attended devotional, they were the Elders quorum president kind of good guys.

One by one they found their soulmate and got married. When I finally got an in with the group the majority of them were gone. I didn't mind, I always had my eye on Trevor. I remember telling one of the "buddies," Paul, that I thought Trevor should want to date me. I was fairly certain Trevor didn't even know who I was at the time. Lucky for me Paul agreed and planted a little bug in Trevor's ear.

When Trevor and I got serious we started to hang out more with his buddies who were married. There are seven buddies, the last one just got married last month. Now of course we know the guys are buddies and like each other but the real miracle in it all is that the wives really like each other. In fact whenever we are together we separate like a 6th grade dance, girls on one side laughing and giggling, boys on the other flexing their muscles for each other.

The term "Love Trip" started when one of the buddies, Rob, who is from England was hired over a Christmas break years ago to transfer all of Troy's (another buddy) family videos to DVD. (Rob couldn't go home for Christmas seeing as it was to England and a bit too expensive). For hours he watched Troy's families events. There was one tape that had footage from a trip taken by Troy's parents  and their friends when they were young couples. They were sitting on their husbands laps, or slapping their wives booty as she walked by, they were young couples who couldn't keep their hands off each other. Rob thought it was hilarious and coined it "The Love Trip." He showed Troy and they decided that when they were all married they would go on "Love Trips" together.

So we have.

This year was the 4th annual and the best one yet. We went to Heber, Utah.
We rented a house for the weekend and played, ate, and talked non stop.

Here I'll introduce you to the group:

Troy & Jemaica

Tyler & Callie

Rob & Erin

Zach & Katie

Paul & Brenda

Trevor & April

Bryce & Bobbilee

Doug & Ashley
(We missed you guys)

Wicked

I got lucky, I married a man who enjoys the theater.
Think of it? A manly man who will go to plays with me, and like it.

When I found out Wicked was coming to Salt Lake I jumped on it.
As soon as I secured our tickets I cranked up the show tunes.

At first Trevor tried to tell me that it would be better if he knew nothing about the story / songs so that way he could be surprised and have anticipation and suspense, like a movie.
I had to explain to him that the theater is like a piece of fine art. You could go to a museum and walk by masterpiece after masterpiece if you didn't know what you were looking at. But once you know something about the piece, the artist, the background, how it was made, what it took to create it, you go from glancing at a work of art to really looking at a masterpiece and having a love and deep connection for that treasure.
The more you know, the more it means something to you.
You enjoy a museum one thousand percent more when you know what you are looking at.
It's the same with plays.

With Trevor, we had to start from the beginning.
He had never even seen The Wizard of Oz.
Can you believe that there are people in this world who have never seen The Wizard of Oz??

"How did you like it?"
"I may have thought it a little boring, there was only one story line."

Our seats? Eye level with the chandelier.
 It was perfect! Amazing!

When I asked him how he liked....
"It was way more funny than I expected it was going to be."
(Which is true, if you have ever heard Trevor's laugh.... he thought it was pretty funny.)
"I am really glad I watched The Wizard of Oz there were a lot of inside jokes and parts that I wouldn't have understood if I hadn't seen the movie."

Considering the few tears he shed there at the end, and his humming Popular on the way home, I am going to interpret the above statements to mean that he LOVED IT!!!

My Baby Daddy

I think they look so much alike in this picture.
He must be her daddy.

How does your garden grow?

We inherited a small garden patch with our house.
Luckily Trevor saw it's potential... I just thought it was ugly.

He made this:
soooooo much better, yes?
We figured as the son of a farmer
and a daughter of a master gardener
we can't fail when it comes to a box garden.
Maybe we shouldn't get too cocky.

Debbie Downer

The past little while I have sort of been a Debbie Downer.
I don't know why, I guess I figure I need to make sure we are thinking realistically.

I don't think I ever considered myself super realistic or logical but being married to a dreamer has put my rational side into sharp focus.

I didn't notice I was being a downer until Trevor started saying things like: "I'm surprised people still go to Disneyland with the rise in Terrorist Attacks.... wah-wah."

The other day Trevor made a reference about college, like he had graduated last week.

"You realize that there are college students that are ten years younger than you?"

He looked like I had punched him in the gut.

Why? Why did I have to say that? So what if he is closer to a mid-life crisis than a dorm room?

Birthday Weekend Recap

I have the greatest husband!
If you missed it, Trevor wrote me a blog poem. Read it HERE
That in fact was the third poem he has written me, what a romantic.

It doesn't stop there. He planned the whole day on my birthday complete with an hour by hour agenda!

He started the day out making a delicious french toast breakfast.

We made a picnic lunch and hit the road.

We soon came across nothing...

Where were we headed you ask?

The Spiral Jetty!!! In the Great Salt Lake.
I was so excited.
We knew it was early in the year so it would be under water but it was still really neat.  Can you see it? We will definitely go back when it has resurfaced.
We had a blast and took a ton of pictures.
(Bridget was a bit on the tired side.)

Not far from the Jetty is the Golden Spike historical park... we couldn't not stop.
We went into Salt Lake for dinner eating at Frida Bistro.
It was oh so good!
After a scrumptious meal he took me to Bruges Waffles and Frites for dessert.
yummy.

Rating out of 5
Frida Bistro: 4
(Food has wonderful flavor, very tasty. It is pricey. Left feeling satisfied not full.)
Bruges Waffles and Frites: 4
(I have been to Bruges, Belgium so I am a little biased but they do a fantastic job. My dessert stomach was hoping the waffles would be bigger, but my thighs said to stop complaining.

Thank You Trevor for such an awesome birthday!!!
