The Side No One Has Seen Before

It's been three years now.
Not that the bloom has rubbed off,
but I think it's time to show you the less glamorous side of June 6th 2009.

not a fan of the lipstick

 .....not.....quite......there......grunt.

 We are really good dancers.

This wasn't on purpose.

Happy Anniversary My Love.
Time has told me that I love you immeasurably more today than I did on this day three years ago.

Happy What?

Oh yeah.... Happy Valentines Day.

I have never been great at Valentines Day. Especially before I was married, I forgot it was V-day every year.
I could never understand why some of my roommates would mope around, it's just like any other day, right?

Well I was going to tell you how I semi-botched / it was the best valentines day ever three years ago.

But I will start out by telling you how I already ruined today.

It's 7:42am.

If after I feed Bridget she goes back to sleep then so do I. So I am rarely up when Trevor leaves for work. But for some reason after I fed her at 7:00 I couldn't go back to sleep so I came downstairs to start writing my valentines day post.

Nope, I didn't even think: "It would be really nice if I made breakfast, or pack a lunch or something for Trevor today."
I just came down and sat on my booty.

Well I heard Trevor go out into the garage so I thought he was grabbing a tool or something.
He often needs tools when he is pouring himself a bowl of cereal. No, but really it didn't throw me off that he would be out there, he loves his garage.
What did make me curious was how long he was out there. I kept thinking, "is he trying to paint a coat on the dresser before work? He is going to be so late!"

So I went out to see what he was doing.
He whirled around with the guiltiest face.
It was like a caught a 4-year-old scribbling with permanent marker on my walls.

He had a beautiful rose in his hand.

"Oh no! I am so sorry! I was wondering what was taking you so long, I came out to help."

"You aren't supposed to even be awake right now!"

I spoiled the surprise.
He also got me a box of chocolate covered strawberries and a beautiful card.

My awful timing aside, he is an incredible man. I am so lucky to have him.

Which brings me to...Valentines Day 2009:

I actually need to rewind about a month.
In January 2009 Trevor and I had been dating for a while and we started talking about getting married.

I felt it necessary to tell him
"When you propose don't do anything too cheesy or cliche."
"Like what?" he asked.
"Well, like on Valentines day or anywhere near a temple."

You see we had met while going to school at BYU-Idaho, and I am going to throw out a statistic here and say 70% of engaged couples got engaged on temple grounds.
Basically I had felt like it was overdone and I wanted something a bit more original.

So what did he do?
I am sure you have picked up on the foreshadowing here, but like any romantic comedy I will go on even though you know what's going to happen.

His family came down from Idaho to go through the open house for the draper temple before it was dedicated.
It happened to be on Valentines Day.
My parents also decided to come with us and as we were all walking though the temple we got to the sealing rooms.
There was an usher standing near an altar in the middle of the room, he caught eye contact with me and Trevor and waved us over.

He started whispering "look into the mirrors, they are placed that way so it looks as if you go on forever. It's symbolic."

I whispered back: "It's beautiful. Actually we are going to be married here in June."

(I was one of those girls who had already scheduled and picked out a date before I even had a ring on my finger.)

"Oh wow, congratulations." he responded.

"Yes just one thing left to do." Trevor piped in.

Then he turned to me and knelt down on one knee and asked me to marry him.

"Are you kidding me?" was my reply.

Because you see, I thought it was a joke. He was doing exactly what I told him not to do.

When I realized the little box in his hand with a gorgeous diamond ring inside meant it wasn't a joke I quickly replied with an emphatic "Yes!"

When he got up to hug me he was sweating excessively.
I was concerned so I asked, "Are you ok?"

"I thought you were going to say 'No'."

Oops.

Poor guy has to deal with me everyday of the year.

He proved me a fool though because it was the most wonderful Valentines day I ever had.

You can't take pictures inside the temple so here is a picture of the room we were in when he proposed. It was so memorable and sweet.

I LOVE YOU TREVOR MILLAR!!

Legit Surprises

Trevor and I have not been very good about surprising each other when it comes to gifts.
I am super ridiculous because I will usually talk through (with him) the gifts I could potentially buy him to figure out if it will fit in our budget. Whereas he is super cute and cannot keep a secret because he just gets so excited!

I am proud to say we BOTH pulled off spectacular gift surprises for our anniversary this year!
I got Trevor a welder, which is something he has wanted really badly but never thought I would get him just because there are a lot of different options to welders that make no sense to me.
But I was tricky and called up his buddy, Jordan Taylor, and he was able to help me find exactly what Trevor would want in a welder. I think Trev was more surprised that it wasn't something he would have to take back! (bonus points to me!)

But then Trevor goes and surprises me for the first time!

Since being pregnant I have had some great experiences with retaining water and swollen extremities, therefore I haven't been able to wear my wedding ring since about week 16.

I did not expect it one bit but he got me a replacement band that will actually fit my finger! He said he picked this one out because it had the same pave diamonds that my wedding ring has. (I swear to you he even said the word pave!)

Seriously I have one amazing guy!

Very Appropriate

Guess what? This is my 100th blog post!

Are you incredibly proud of me? I feel like I should have a give away or something, because that would be the appropriate thing to do, right?

Instead I will post about how today is my 2nd year Anniversary!!! Which is also very appropriate because he is the whole reason I started this blog. I mean, that's what any good Mormon wife does... write a blog.

Here we are two years ago.

For your pleasure I did some math for you:

- 4 years 8 months = since we met

- 3 years 7 months = since April wanted Trevor to ask her out

- 2 years 8 months 13 days = since out first date

- 2 years 8 months 13 days = since our first kiss (don't read too much into this math. Ok fine, you are right, I am a floozy, I kissed him on our first date!)

- 2 years 8 months 13 days = since Trevor believed we started dating

- 2 years 7 months 18 days = since April believed we started dating

- 2 years 7 months 7 days = since we told each other "I love you"

- 2 years 3 months 23 days = since we got engaged

- 2 years exactly = since we got married!!!!!!

Two Birthday's and an Anniversary

A first year anniversary to boot!!

(in reverse order)
JUNE 6:

Trevor gave me beautiful flowers for the first time ever, so naturally I needed to document the moment.

What a wonderful man I have.

We decided to go on a little vaca for our anniversary. Off we whisked away to St. George. After a wonderful session at the St. George Temple we were fortunate enough to spend some quality time at the local service station as Twanda demanded it necessary....

But then we got to go to the fabulous Tuachan Amphitheater and see a childhood favorite of mine, CATS!
I loved it, Trevor was a great sport although I think he would have rather seen Tarzan.

MAY 8, 2010:
My baby turns 26!!!!!!!!
We packed the day with:
A marvelous picnic at Wheeler Farm with all the animals
Iron Man 2 - a "guy" movie
Texas Roadhouse with BJ, Stacy, Troy, and Jemaica.
It was a good day.
(I wish I had more pictures)

April 20:
24 years for me!
(It's really weird because when I think of myself I think I am 21, in fact the other day I was talking to my mom and I said, "yeah, they are a few years older then me." But when I stopped and thought about it, "they" were my exact same age.)

These are all the clothes, and SHOES, Trevor picked out all by himself for my birthday!
I am so proud, he did a great job....love him.

Trevor surprised me with a Bee's Baseball game, we were really lucky it was such a nice day, we had a blast!!

Done and Done

It's finally official, Trevor and I are engaged!
About a month ago when Trevor and I were talking about marriage I told him he shouldn't propose any way too cheesy or cliché; like on valentines day, or anywhere near a Temple. I just felt like it had been done by so many other people and I wanted something a little more original. Well maybe he took that to mean that that was the only way to propose, because that is exactly what he did.
He proved me a fool because it turned out to be really special and incredibly sweet.
We had tickets to go through the Draper Temple Open House on Valentines Day. Everything was turning out great, his family was able to come down for it and my parents were going to come. I totally suspected something was going to happen that weekend, but definitely not in the Temple because I told him I would say no if he did.  As we were walking through we got close to the sealing rooms and I got really excited because I had already scheduled us to be married in the Draper Temple so I knew what room we were going to be sealed in. I was anxious to be able to go through that room with Trevor. As we were walking through there was an Usher standing next to the alter and he caught eye contact with us and motioned for us to come over. He started telling us about the mirrors and their symbolism representing eternity, he said some other very sweet things. I ended up telling him that we were scheduled to be sealed in that very room in June. As he was expressing his congratulations Trevor says "Yeah, there's just only one thing left to do..." That's when he got down on his knee, pulled out a ring I had never seen before and asked me to marry him.
Well I didn't say No but I did say "Are you kidding me!"  But then I said yes. It was really neat that our families got to be there, I wouldn't have had it any other way. In all reality he was quite brilliant because by proposing in a way I told him not to it actually was the only way I was truly surprised.
I feel very blessed that we found each other. I love him dearly and I am excited and anxious to start our life together.

This is a picture of my ring, Trevor picked it out all by himself and I don't think he could have done any better! I absolutely love it!
