Day 29: A picture that makes me chuckle

A picture that can always make me chuckle:

This picture was taken at my work Christmas party. I can't stop laughing at Trevor, he is so pretty.

Day 28: Something I am afraid of

A picture of something you are afraid of:

I never really thought I was afraid of something specific. Don't get me wrong, I don't like spiders and snakes etc. but I can kill a spider without a major melt down and I have touched snakes in my life.

It wasn't until I lived in Las Vegas that I found out what I am really afraid of....

Cockroaches!

I know it may sound weird but they just plain creep me out! I don't really mind just one, but when there are a ton of them... and come Summer time in Las Vegas they are everywhere. I remember I would get home from work at night and they would be all over the sidewalks and in the gutters, lining the outside walls. I couldn't help but squash a few as I ran to my door and their crunch is aweful! Then once inside they would be all over! I remember once I came home and there were probably 15 scattered around the floor, I screamed and jumped up on the kitchen counter and was there for like a half hour before I got enough courage to run through what I was sure was going to be an ambush of every cockroach in the entire world the second I moved.

I would barely sleep even with towels blocking all the cracks in the doors because I was sure they would attack in the night.

Other than that I am pretty much fearless!

Day 26: 5 love languages

A Picture of something that means a lot to me:

Have you ever read the book the 5 Love Languages?

Or at the very least taken the test to determine which of the 5 love languages is how you express your love? Is it:

-words of affirmation?

-quality time?
-receiving gifts?

-acts of service? or
-physical touch?

I personally feel that the system is flawed because I know I am all 5.

I'll prove it:

#1 Words of Affirmation:I have a sensitive husband (don't tell him I told you) so I try to be extra careful with my words, I can't wait to tell him all the things I love about him, things that he does that makes me so proud. Although I don't leave thoughtful notes in special places around the house, I do bombard him daily with texts and emails.

Then on the flip side I am so a fisher for compliments. Pretty much every time Trevor tells me he loves me, I say "why?" and then I stare at him sweetly until he gives a substantial lists of all my exceptional qualities. (and for some reason he still tells me he loves me a lot, everyday).

#2 Quality Time: I value time in general. So to give someone my quality time or to have someone else give me their quality time is a huge deal that never goes unnoticed. Although I am a planner & a get things done-er, I make sure I stop and cuddle up on Trevor's lap and just spend time... for both him and me. The key is in the word quality, some of the most amazing memories I have were doing some of the most trivial things but the memory lasts because of the time spent was with loved ones.

#3 Receiving Gifts: I never thought I was a gift person... until I got older, and made my own money. I LOVE to plan out and really research the gifts I give. Again I would say here it's about the quality of gift, it doesn't have to cost a single cent but if it was thought out and planned, that's the part I love.

Unfortunately Trevor is not a gift person. He appreciates when he gets them, but he is more of a run-out-the-night-before-her-birthday-and-see-if-I-can-find-something-that-will-work kind of guy. And then if he does plan something he is the worst at surprises! He gives up anything even if I don't ask. It's kind of cute actually how he can't keep it in, and if that's his only failing I will take it!

#4 Acts of Service: Trevor may stink at giving gifts but he is incredible with service! I never really understood this one... until I married Trevor. He will do the regular stuff that you think of when you think of service like the dishes, or the laundry (there is nothing, and I mean nothing, like coming home to a clean kitchen that you didn't clean!) But he does so much more, he plays with my hair, massages my shoulders, tickles my arm for like a really long time, always. In fact when I get up in the night (which I do a lot of now that I'm pregnant) to go to the bathroom, when I get back into bed he rolls over and rubs my back until I fall asleep again.

#5 Physical Touch:I am a touchy person, not overwhelmingly so but I meet you, I hug you.

Day 25: Picture of my day

A Picture of your day:

When people see my calendar they ask me what I am counting down to? Can't a girl just cross out the boxes so she knows what day it is?

So.... here I am today. In all my glory. Yes I have a full time office job where I am supposed to look professional. But lucky for me it was "Jersey Day." Today happens to be the day that Real Salt Lake (the Soccer Team) is playing for the Concacaf Championship. Now if you don't know what any of that means, don't feel bad, all I know is that my company (xango) are supporters so we were strongly encouraged to wear their jerseys today.

You better believe I am took full advantage of "jersey day"

-woke up after 8:00am threw on my jersey (well Trevor's jersey, it's bigger and more comfortably accommodates my ever swelling belly.)

- of course baseball hats go with jerseys so therefore I didn't need to wash my hair (score!)

- I may have gone with the 3 day old makeup look (gross, I know and to be honest it is 4 day old).

Here is a picture of a wall of my cubicle, I look at it everyday.

You may have thought after reading this "jersey day! how can it get any better then that?!" I would definitely agree with you, but it did get better! How? Well did you know that today happens to be Administrative Professionals Day. For Real, it is... who knew there was such a day?? I didn't.

So the flowers were such a happy surprise on my desk.

Please make sure you thank your administrative professionals today.

Day 24: Something I wish I could change

A picture of something I wish I could change:

No I don't wish to change this picture, because it is probably the coolest family picture....ever.

So what is it I want to change, you ask? I want the fact that this pretty good size group only gets to be together like twice a year... if we are lucky.

- 8 live in St. George

- 6 live in Las Vegas

- 3 live in Colorado

- 4 live in Salt Lake

- 1 lives in Rexburg

- 1 lives in Columbia

Yes I realize it could be worse, we could all live further away. But all I want is for my entire family to live in the same place. Is that so much to ask?

I mean look at us, it's obvious we get along great. And if a disagreement arises, we of course settle our differences with a little Mexican Wrestling.

Day 23:

A picture of your favorite book:
I love this book. I just read it over and over again and it enriches my life every time I open it. If you don't know much about it, go here

Monday, April 11, 2011

Day 22: I wish I were better

A picture of something you wish you were better at:

Hmmmmm..... that's a toughie, there are a lot of things I wish I were better at, but I guess if I had to pick two I would say:

Driving.

I am a self proclaimed bad driver, I know it. Come on, I'm from Utah aren't we all bad drivers here?

Although, I have never gotten a ticket and I didn't miss a single point on my driving or parallel parking test. But however; I do follow two closely, I drive at least 10 miles above the speed limit (I'm just keeping up with the flow of traffic), I totally slow down to look any time I see flashing red lights, and like the picture above I may be guilty of one or all of those "distractions" on a regular basis.

So, that's why I let Trevor drive.

You're Welcome.

The second thing I wish I were better at:

Singing.

I even try and spare Trevor my tone deafness...sometimes....when I'm feeling particularly nice. But that is more than I can say for my poor unborn child. Unfortunately it's with me at all times which includes the car, the shower, making dinner, and other random parts of the day. I have read babies can hear while in the womb, I just hope for it's own sake it's muffled.

Day 20: I would love to travel

A picture of somewhere you would love to travel:
I am sure I may have mentioned it, but I LOVE TO TRAVEL.

By the time I was 19 I had backpacked Europe for a month and 2 years later moved to Paris for a semester to study French and Art. I would go anywhere anytime. I'm serious, even North Dakota as long as it meant I was going somewhere new... embarking on an adventure. Although I am up for anywhere, I hold a very special spot in my heart for Europe.

But of all the countries I have been to in Europe I have not been to:

SPAIN!

There is so much art, architecture, and culture in Spain. I mean just look at this church built, well designed and started, by Antoni Gaudi in Barcelona:

Isn't this fantastic? It looks like it's melting!

The Sagrada Familia was first started in 1882, Goudi became involved with the project in 1883 and worked on it until his death in 1926, he left detailed instructions on how it should be completed and they are still working on it to this day.

Gaudi had a distinct "art nouveau" style that can be found in architecture all over Barcelona.

Perhaps this was an inspiration on Dr. Seuss's style?

Also home to Madrid Spain is the fascinating piece by Hieronymus Bosch The Garden of Earthly Delights.

There are a few works of art that I could stand in front of for hours and feel like I just got a taste of the piece, and this may very well be on the top of that list.

It is an absolutely incredible piece, a triptych; with the left panel depicting Adam and Eve, the center is basically mortality, and the last panel illustrates damnation according to Bosch.

When you first look at this do not be alarmed, as it has a bit of a repulsive "this isn't normal" feel to it. But give it a chance, start looking at the details and it will be hard to stop.

The Mosque of Cordoba:

Breathtaking isn't it?

I believe Guernica by Picasso is also breathtaking, but perhaps in a slightly different way.
Spain houses an impressive collection of art from the great Picasso to other incredible Spanish artists like Velazquez and Goya there are many "MUST SEES!"

Another place I would love to go to with Trevor is back to where he served his mission:

Vanuatu

South Pacific

I guess if I have to I'll go. :)

Day 19: When I was little

A picture of when you were little:
This is fun, you get to see me and all my sisters when we were little. I am the one fascinated by the matches.

And how about a picture of my Hot Mama when she was younger?

(Also pictured is my Uncle Randy)

Day 18: an insecurity

A picture of an insecurity:
I tenderly call it "The Box"

When I gain weight, this is where the magic happens.

I know I am not the only lady in the world with this... box. So if you are reading this and you may have a similar insecurity please know that I know what it's like to have patches in my jeans only in the crotch because of the ceaseless thigh rub, my muffin top could rival any bakery, and I have always had some "junk in the trunk" but I never realized I could be pregnant in my butt! I'm serious, my booty could rival any 9 month belly. I have been trying out some maternity clothes in the last week and I am almost to the point of putting the pants on backwards so the nice stretchy panel will give my bum some room.

Monday, March 21, 2011

Day 17: huge impact on my life

A picture of something that has made a huge impact on your life recently:

Yes it's true, I'm in my 13th week and feeling great!
We will have a little baby arriving in the end of September.

Day 16: people who inspire me

A picture of someone who inspires you:

I have the most incredible women in my life. Each one of them are smart, talented, crafty, kind, and hilarious. They are quite literally everything good you can think of. Whoever knows them would agree, it's pretty much impossible not to be inspired by them.

Day 15: what I want to do before I die

A picture of something you want to do before you die:

Please see "the list"
<---------

Basically all I really want to do is travel.... a lot.... with Trevor.

Day 13: favorite band

A picture of your favorite band or artist:

Meg & Dia
They are a band, but the girls are sisters and they have incredible voices. They write all their own stuff and I just love listening to them.
Sara Bareilles
I have been listening to a lot of Sara lately

Yellowcard

Their songs are the soundtrack to my memories, they have been with me through high school, college, and everywhere since.
I have seen them in concert 3 times and I just plain love them.

Day 12: something I love

A picture of something you Love:

I absolutely LOVE my wedding ring!
Trevor picked it out all by himself, he couldn't have done any better, it's perfect!

(sorry for the blurry pictures, taken with my phone)

Thursday, March 10, 2011

Day 11: something I hate

A picture of something you Hate:

You may be asking yourself, "She hates dishwashers?" and the answer would be NO! I love dishwashers! I HATE that I don't have one.
So please, if you have a dishwasher cherish it and realize how easy it makes life!

Day 10: People I love to spend time with

A picture of the people I love spending time with:

My Mother and Sisters are just plain awesome!

We may have had a photoshoot in our wedding dresses.

And yes, we do some slightly ridiculous things when together.

I just love them!

Day 09: people who have gotten me through the most

I haven't really had a lot to go through but here are a few standout people.

The Mom

The Husband

The Girlfriends
